Professional Cornish surfer Luke Dillon is celebrating his debut season on the senior tour and a vital, at the Newquay Night Surf.

The local boy from Newquay, who has been described as ‘one of the most exciting British surfers to emerge in the last 20 years’, has won every British title going since winning the UK Quiksilver King of the Groms title at just nine-years-old.

Having finished 17th in the ASP World Rankings last year, Luke is expected to mimic his staggering success in the junior ranks as he moves into the senior tour.

the 20-year-old said the support of St Austell Brewery will play a big part in his career progression.

He said: “This is a big summer for me, it’s the first step along the road to achieving my goal of becoming one of the top ten surfers in the world. I can’t do it alone though, and getting the backing of a big local brand like Korev is a massive boost, especially for me as a Newquay boy looking to make my way in the sport.”

Jeremy Mitchell, St Austell Brewery marketing and communications director, said: “Following our recent agreement with Surfing GB for Korev to become its official beer, we’re delighted to also be supporting a fantastic local talent who is entering the senior tour having achieved so much as a junior.

“The Newquay Night Surf will be the first time that Luke will ride for team Korev and we hope that our sponsorship will help him realise his goals.”

Luke finished 2014 very strongly, winning the ASP Lanzarote Pro Junior 2star event in September and qualifying for the ASP World Junior Final in Portugal. Luke finished 17th out of 48 of the World’s best surfers under 20. If that wasn’t enough, Luke finished 2014 ranked 4th in the ASP European rankings.

He was awarded the honour of becoming the Surfing Ambassador for Great Britain for 2015 by Surfing GB, in recognition of his outstanding achievements on the world stage promoting British surfing.

This year, Luke is competing in the Men’s World Qualifying Series (WQS) events, with qualification for the World Championship Tour his ultimate aim.

As well as Korev Cornish Lager, Luke is also sponsored by Adams Surfboards, Fox Head Europe, Macbeth Footwear, Dakine and Von Zipper Sunglasses.

St Austell Brewery recently announced a new three-year partnership which sees Korev become the official beer of British surfing.

Korev will enjoy inclusion throughout Surfing GB operations as well as being named as the supporting sponsor for the 2015 Interclub and National Surfing Championships. Korev Lager joins a well-established family of Surfing GB sponsors in Surfdome.com, Acer Technologies and the long standing Aquajuice Soft Drink.
