Luke Dillon stormed to victory in the British National Open Surfing Championships, held at Croyde Bay in North Devon at the weekend…
The 20yr old in his rookie year on the Mens Tour ,put his immense speed and power to good use to defeat the best of British surfing and take the highly coveted Mens Open National Title.

170+ surfers entered the various categories from u12″s to Veterans divisions and the organisation from Surfing GB and the Judges was first rate.
The event supported by Korev Cornish Lager and Magic Seaweed was a resounding success.
In a stacked field, with surfers from all over the British Isles including a strong crew from Jersey and Guernsey, Luke made a strong start, winning his opening 3 heats with free flowing surfing and upside down turns in the pocket.
The quarters ,semi”s and Final were held on the Sunday with cross / offshore winds and solid 3-4 foot consistent swell. The pressure was relentless, the excitement for the Final was palpable ,and we had our 4 finalists.
It was to be Luke”s day, but there were plenty of outstanding performances to keep the large crowd entertained.
Reubyn was landing airs, Jayce was using his speed to lock in huge turns and Miles Lee Hargreaves was the dark horse, taking a break from his last year on the Pro Junior Tour and cutting loose.
Luke locked into the longer but trickier Lefts that were reeling off the Downend Point rocks and his speed and technical ability allowed him to stay with the set waves, smashing turns, right through to the inside sections.
It was a great final, a great occasion and British Surfing looks to be in good hands
